FOUR months OLD

This past month has been a WONDERFUL one! At 3 1/2 months I finally decided to try to put Harvey on a schedule. {I'm not very good at this, and have never done it this early}. My friend Tami lent me her "Baby Wise" book when Harvey was about 3 weeks. I read it cover to cover and was mentally ready to implement it. I tried and failed almost immediately. I realized I just wasn't ready for a strict schedule just yet. AND I wasn't ready to let him cry either...and I knew it was going to take some crying. I wanted to feed him whenever he wanted to nurse and I wanted to snuggle him to sleep. And that was working out just fine for now. But at about 3 1/2 months I realized we were both ready. Harvey was having 3-4 cat naps a day {30-40 minutes} with one HUGE 3-4 hour nap right in the middle of the day. I always nursed him to sleep and I was getting NOTHING done. So, after nursing him for a good 2 hours {on and off} one night to get him to sleep I decided to go for it. So the next day we dove right in. I nursed every 4 hours {no snacking} and I laid him down AWAKE for his naps and at bedtime. He cried {but never more than 15 minutes} and I decided that it worked better for me if I stayed in there and rubbed his back the first few days. It worked great and after about a week he was on a great little schedule. He is having at least two 2 hour naps and his evening nap is 1-2 hours. He is going down now without any fuss at all. {He occasionally still cries for a minute or two and he always cries longer when he goes down at night} But all in all it has worked out great for all of us. I love feeling like I know what to expect that day, so I can plan some errands and get some stuff done!
He is nothing short of an angel on earth. When he is awake he is full of smiles and coo's and this month he has also started GIGGLING! OH, it's just the best sound in the world. He just reminds me so much of his daddy, I think he's going to be the quiet type {and the sleepy type}.He'll probably have to be with two older sisters, who most likely won't let him get a word in anyway! He's just so MELLOW and OH SO SWEET!

 This is his "look"...the "deer in headlights!"

 Oh that profile {and gotta love the drool}

 That's a sweet little round cheek {poor baby acne is still hanging around too!}

 Oh I just want to nibble this picture! We love you sweet little round baby!

 THIS MONTH HARVEY
Started giggling
Is slobbering LIKE CRAZY {he's to the "always needs a bib on stage"}
Loves to look at himself in the mirror
Playing with toys
Sitting well in his bumbo {he loves to be right up there with us while we eat}
Fell well into his schedule
Is a happy content baby who loves to EAT and SLEEP!
Still hates his car seat. He is doing better, he'll ride for a good 15 minutes happily and the other day he actually FELL ASLEEP in the car {that is pretty much unheard of!}
He has made his decision in the battle of thumb vs. binki and the winner is THUMB {I know I'll hate it later, but I'm not gonna lie...it is sooo nice right now!} although he will only suck it when he's lying down in his crib. Sometimes I wish he'd do it in the car...but he hasn't got that figured out just yet.
His sisters still fight over who gets to hold him and give him constant attention!
Daddy calls him "Big Bopper!" Mommy calls him "Mister Magoo", "Buddha Belly" and "Good Lookin'"
He always has such WIDE eyes...he brought on a whole new meaning to Seinfeld's, "You wanna know what men are thinking about? I'll tell ya...NOTHING! We're just walking around, looking around!" That is SOOO Harvey. He's just taking it all in {deer in a headlight style}
He'll go in for his four month appointment next week so the stats will be posted then! I can't wait to see how much that little Buddha Baby is weighing these days! Oh we love our little Chunky Monkey!

Oh, I'm all about schedules! I guess it's just because with the twins I needed them in a good routine. I started around 2 1/2 months with them, but around 3 weeks with Audrey. Luckily they have never really had to cry it out. I mostly have to decided how I want my day and be very consistant! Audrey never complains about going to bed and I've been able to lay her down awake! It's been wonderful! You're little guy is getting SO big! I hate how they grow so much faster the more kids you have! Wish they would stay tinier a little longer!

Yay for enjoying the newborn snuggles, and implementing the schedule when you were ready. You are one awesome Mommy. I love reading about how much you love your kids.

Thanks for backing me up on my facebook comment. I usually don't say much at all on the facebook, but felt a little fired up at that moment. (:

And finally, I LOVE your idea of meeting up at a park. And I can text Steph, or if all else fails bang on her door, and see if she wants to come. I wanted to be able to try to give a concrete date right here, but I just looked up the weather and it's supposed to be miserable next week. Maybe that will change. I'll be in touch. I have your email address so I'll drop you a line. Okay? Okay.
