FHE at the visitor center

{Monday, November 22}

We went with my whole family to the visitor center for FHE on Monday. They were just finishing setting up all the Christmas trees and small nativity scenes from around the world. We started out with a short video about Christ and his life and the miracles he performed. Towards the end of the video, it showed a little of the crucifixion. It showed men whipping Jesus and spitting in his face. I looked over, a little worried, at my Abbey {she's very sensitive to those kind of things} and could see she was pretty upset. I held her hand and tried to comfort her. The movie then moved on to the crucifixion and showed them nailing Jesus' hands to the cross. I looked over and saw tears in Abbey's eyes. She looked at me and asked, "Did it hurt him?"
It broke my heart. I was really emotional and as I held back my own tears told her "Yes. it did. But he wanted to do it. For us. Because he loves us."
My testimony was strengthened that night as was my love for my savior and my daughter. And I know that Abbey's little testimony was strengthened too.
I was pretty much an emotional wreck through the rest of the evening. The spirit was touching me very strong that night. We went on and watched a series of videos on the importance of family. It was a special night for me. It made me realize how impressionable these young children are, and how they can feel the spirit too. I'm thankful for my family. For my blessings. For the gospel. And for my Savior. And I'm thankful for moments like tonight, where I can see my children learning and progressing.

You just motivated me to update mine. :) Our little Sarah is already 10 weeks old, but only 10 lbs. Crazy! Harvey could body slam her if he wanted to. haha
