First day of kindergarten

My grown-up kindergartner!

So excited and READY to go!

Abbey with Halle Westbrooke and Hailey Hill
All lined up with her teacher Mrs. Sumens ready to say goodbye to mom and head into class!

Abbey had her first day of kindergarten August 18. Daddy came home from work to give her a wonderful Father's blessing and wish her luck.

I have been so excited for her to start. She has been so excited and so ready. But it was a LOT harder for me than I thought. It's hard to watch your first baby walk so bravely and confidently into her classroom. {she didn't need me there, that's for sure} And I think that's a hard thing to cope with as a mother, letting your "babies" grow up and become more independent. Jo and I got home and my heart just ached. I admit a few tears were shed.
{which I really didn't think would be, I thought we were BOTH so ready!}
I text RJ and told him my heart hurt
His response...me too

Abbey at 5 1/2

Favorite color: yellow, turquois, light blue, and red
Favorite food: Chicken and broccoli and cheese sandwiches
Favorite activity: Play animals with Hunter and Carter, jump, play computer games, ride her bike and watch TV
Favorite friends: Hunter Johnson and Carter Jensen
Favorite TV show: Scooby Doo and Suite Life on Deck
{she is loving all the "Big" shows on Disney channel: Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, Good luck Charlie, and Suite Life}

Abbey is taking ballet and gymnastics and is excelling in violin. She is good to practice with me everyday and she has become quite the little violinist. She loves to be read to. {We just recently finished our first chapter book together, "Charlotte's Web" and she LOVED it.} She is starting to be able to read quite a bit on her own. She loves to learn and I know she will do great in kindergarten! She is so grown up it makes me want to cry. She is very precocious and I wish I could keep her 5 forever. We love our spunky little girl!

Do you know what this made me think of? Mrs. Palmer's kindergarten classroom with the names on the chairs in masking tape. I remember my mom pointing to "Rachel W." and saying that she was friends with your mom. Isn't it crazy that I remember things like that? I wonder what Abbey will remember years down the road about the beginning of kindergarten.

Your prego belly is adorable Rach! Hooray for Kindergarten! At least she's home for lunch...first grade was much harder for me letting them go ALL day!

I was the same way, Rach. I thought I was so prepared but you do get a bit emotional {and it's not just cuz your prego}. She looks like a dang 2nd grader, not kidergartener. She's so dang cute {but you already knew that}

Abby is so gorgeous!!

We would LOVE to do dinner. Brent gets there a week before the marathon & we don't leave until the weekend after it. We absolutely will have plenty of time for dinner. I'll call you when it gets closer & we will plan it.
