Tomorrow is RJ and my 8th anniversary! We celebrated this weekend by dropping the girls off with my wonderful sister-in-law and brother, and headed out for the night. We had a delicious dinner at Benja and hung out in a honeymoon suite and the Marriott. It was relaxing, fun, and romantic {RJ even surprised me with 2 dozen beautiful roses in our room} He thinks roses are cliche' and pretty much overpriced, but I have to admit...I LOVED them! It was a great way to celebrate 8 wonderful years with my best friend.
...Then Saturday came and went
...AND Sunday morning, I'm getting ready for church, reach over to grab my wedding ring and band and
HEART DROPS!!!
I left it in our hotel room!
We call the hotel and the receptionist searches my room, vacuum bags, and talks to head of house keeping
NOTHING!
I go over and search the room as well... Last thing I remember was setting them on the nightstand and thinking "I better not forget these!" {then continuing to think, "it's fine, they are in PLAIN sight!"} AND that's the last time I remember seeing them.
We load up in the morning and I pack up everything...including the popcorn they left for us {heaven forbid we leave the POPCORN} and the last thing I did was grab my roses {my rings were right next to them} BUT I don't remember seeing them...
So 90% of me is sure that they were left in the room, while the other 10% hopes I subconsciously put them back on my finger, and now they are just lost somewhere at home.
I've spent the morning cleaning out my bathroom drawers and praying a lot! I'm beginning to realize they may be gone forever. {I'm considering calling the pawn shops--I can't help but think my maid has cashed them in!}
SO I'm trying to focus on the fact that:
It's just a ring!
Instead of the facts that:
It is the ONE and ONLY ring that RJ placed on my finger after he took me back to the place of our first date and asked me to be his wife
It is the ONE and ONLY ring that was placed on that same finger on the day of our wedding, after we were sealed in the temple for all eternity
It it the ONE and ONLY ring that RJ spent hard earned money {that as a poor college student, didn't have} and had specially made JUST FOR ME!
...so although I know it is JUST A RING and it can be replaced someday, will it ever FEEL the same. OR will it be just some OTHER ring?

Oh that is just heartbreaking! I feel so bad for you! I would keep checking with all the pawn shops because times are hard right now and you'd hate to think someone would do that but dang it! Hope it turns up soon.
Oh Rach, that would be so frustrating! I hope, hope, hope you find your ring. It sounds like the rest of the weekend was special. RJ seems like such a sweet and fun hubby!
Oh my gosh I almost did the same thing...but on our honeymoon! We got to breakfast when I realized it was gone, and luckily the maid hadn't gone in to clean our room by the time we got back. I'm so sorry!
Oh Rach, I am so sorry! I hope you find it! I will cross my fingers that it turns up! Good Luck
Oh, I'm sick for you!. UGH that's awful.
Yes, I'd look at all the Pawn shops. At least you can say you tried, right?
Oh, and happy 8 years!!
Rach I am so sorry. Believe me I know the feeling all to well. We all know that I have about lost my ring a million times. I unconsiencly (bad spelling i know) put my ring down all the time. The last time I lost mine I had put it in my ring cleaner and could't find it for about a week. I was doing the same thing you are cleaning out everything! Good luck to you aI will pray for you! Love you Dev
Hey Dev-
Are you still blogging?? If you are, will you add me as a reader? k8bess@gmail.com
Sorry Rach.. I'm once again, using you as the middle man to the private bloggers! :)
no problem Kate!
Thanks for the well wishes everyone!
Oh Sad, I am so sorry! That makes me want to cry! I really hope you can find it somehow. Preston lost his ring in a las vegas hotel room, pretty sure a housekeeper snatched it! Happy Anniversary...8 years, wowzers!
OH RACH! I am so SORRY! That makes me just sick! My Mom did the same thing once on our cruise and her ring got stolen from one of our room people! And it never did turn up. . . but now it is replaced with a much Nicer one :) But I HOPE you FIND IT!!! I am with you I am pretty sentimental about things--especially WEDDING RINGS!
Rachel,
I am so sorry! I lost mine in a similar way last year. It still makes me sick every time I think about it. I hope it turns up for you!!!
I was really hoping to hear some miraculous story about finding this ring. I'll just keep waiting to hear about it...I guess. At least you will always remember this anniversary. That's more than I can say about my 8th! (that's supposed to cheer you up about the missing ring but I doubt that it did)
AHHH...How sad. I can't believe you can't find your ring. I kept waiting for the story to have a happy ending. I would be sick.
I'm sorry to say I too know your pain. I lost my ring about a year ago and every single day I looked at my empty finger my heart sank. I couldn't handle the pain any longer (especially being very pregnant and getting all sorts of looks from others). So, we just accepted the fact that it was probably lost forever and went ring shopping again. I love my new ring and with it comes a different story with different memories. It is just as special to me. Cheer up.
