2 years old and 7 stitches

Tuesday night, Makayla was up unusually late--sometimes I just don't feel like fighting her to bed--and she was getting out of the shower {11pm} and I wrapped her up and put her down. She started running a little across the bathroom floor, and BAM--head first {Chin first actually} on the tile floor. I lifted her up and saw a gaping cut across her little chin. We ran into the emergency room and Sedation, 7 stitches {one deep tissue, 6 outer stitches}, 3 hours , and who knows how much $$$ later...we head home with a very SLEEPY baby.
They decided they better sedate her, so that they could get a good, straight seal-- and it was crazy to see. They gave her a shot and almost instantly she was out {with her eyes open} Then, of course, an hour later they should come off of it. But by then it was like 1:00 in the morning and she was OUT. So, after another hour of trying to wake her up--the Doc said--take her home, she's just tired. We were a little nervous to do that without having her wake up from the anesthesia but we did--and she was fine {she slept until 10:00 the next morning}

Makayla at 2:
Tall
LOVES baby dolls
Very independant and stubborn
Doesn't give anyone hugs or kisses very often {so when she is in the mood--everyone comes runnin'}
She LOVES fruit snacks
and juice
She is impossible to put to sleep at night--it usually is an hour from start to finish {sometimes longer}
She sleeps in late {9 or 9:30}
She LOVES shoes
She is very social and LOVES other children
She is a WILD WOMAN
She is talking in full sentences
She LOVES to tease Abbey. Her new favorite is to tell Abbey, "you 2, I 4!" it makes Abbey crazy
She LOVES listening to the radio in the car and will always tell me, "Turn it up!" until it is blasting
Throws crazy fits on a regular basis

We also have a night owl. But he doesn't usually sleep in, dangit.

From the little list or personality traits I must say she reminds me of YOU. Heh. That's not a bad thing.

And perhaps it's been there forever, but I just noticed the "I recently began trying other men out" and I need an explanation for that one. ?

Poor little thing. I HATE the ER I stay away from that place at all costs. And it always seems you are there in the middle of the night. I am so glad that she is okay. She is such a little doll.

She is so cute. That doesn't sound like a fun night at all. This is what I used to deal with at my work. I was in on sedations all the time! I worked the night shift and it happened so much... the kiddos just wouldn't wake up so home they went sleeping! So sad to see your little one get stitches!

Poor Makayla! With Jon as wild as he is, we have had many trips to the ER, and it's never fun. Does she keep touching it and telling everybody what happened? Jon did that, almost like he was proud of his stitches.

It sounds like both parties were a hit, especially those darling Elmo cupcakes. So cute!

So sad! I hate the ER . . . avoid it at all costs! My Rachel feel getting out of the shower at about this same age too, but instead of the chin it was her teeth (ouch)! Hey, at least it was a trip to the dentist instead of the ER.

Oh poor thing and poor parents! I would have been a nervous wreck about having her wake up --I'm glad it turned out okay --I still have a mean scar from my stitches--Know when will ever know unless they look for them
