What is going on?

Okay, so Abbey just woke up a couple of minutes ago, screaming bloody murder. I ran in there to see her throwing her pillow around and kicking her legs (all while screaming.) I ran over and grabbed her. Her eyes were open. I asked her if she was having a bad dream and she said yes. I tried to hold her, but she was kicking all over, almost like she felt clausterphobic. (I have no idea how to spell that) So I grabbed her binki (yes you read right, I said binki and yes she is 3...but that's not the problem we are addressing right now) I put the binki in her mouth and she was instantly asleep again. What the heck? How is she having nightmares? She has been waking up lately in the night too, and comes in saying she is scared. How sad when your kids get to the age that they understand that things are scary. But where are the images coming from? We NEVER watch movies or any kind of bad tv in front of her. The scariest thing she sees is the grumpy old troll from Dora...I don't know, maybe he's chasing her?? SO what do you do? I feel so bad for her.

Rach, They are called night terrors and she is not awake, She looks like she is and sometimes they can even respond. She doesn't know what is going on. Does she remember anything later like after she is fully awake? I no I am not a doctor so I should just shut it, but I remember learning about this in college. If I remember right you are Oh I don't dare say for sure because what if I don't remember right and I am just telling you the wrong thing to do. I would talk to your doctor and see if it really does sound like night terrors. I am not much help so see ya.

Sav went through that. Its awful! It happened when I took away her books(because she was shredding them) However, 8 days later when I let her have them back, her "nightmares" stopped. Good luck, I hope they end soon.

That is so sad..the probably is the grumpy old troll. I think katelyn has nightmares about Ursula, I would too. I felt so much better about my mothering when I heard about the binkie..yes, we are still working on it too. The binkie fairy hasn't effectively taken it away yet. They all grow out of these things right?

Rach- I'm so glad you found my blog! It has been forever since I have seen you. I do LOVE your in laws- they are great! They said they would adopt me, then I would be in the fam. I don't do baptisms every week, I go in the other doors too now :) But we go and visit at least once a month. How have you been? Your kids are so cute! :)

K- I am sure you are sick of me...Rachel Goodwin again. My little son started having these night terror things too when he was almost 3. It just makes me sick, he is so scared and all we can do is just wait for him to come out of it. I hate it so bad he doesn't want us to touch him and he shields his little face from us. He is doing a lot better now, but have you learned anything else about them? How is Makayla now?
